Looking after the environment
At Severn Trent, we believe that caring for the environment is not simply a 'corporate responsibility', it's a key part of everyday life. Our essential services depend on the natural world, and we are dedicated to protecting and enhancing the ecosystems that sustain us. Every action we take today is aimed at ensuring a healthier, more resilient tomorrow for our communities, customers, and future generations.
As a company that relies on the natural environment to deliver essential services, we are deeply committed to protecting and enhancing the ecosystems that it sustains. By acting today, we can ensure a healthier, more resilient tomorrow for our communities, our customers, and future generations.
We have embedded environmental responsibility into every aspect of our operations. From reducing carbon emissions and restoring biodiversity, to improving water quality and minimising waste, our approach is holistic and forward-thinking, which keeps us on track to reach net-zero operational emissions by 2030.
Nature-based solutions are at the heart of our strategy. We are investing in wetlands, woodlands and regenerative land management practices that not only improve water quality but also create habitats for wildlife and help capture carbon. Through our Great Big Nature Boost programme, we’ve restored thousands of hectares of land and improved hundreds of kilometres of rivers, because we believe that environmental action and operational excellence go hand in hand. Through catchment partnerships, community volunteering and education initiatives, we are building a collective movement for environmental change.
We rise to the challenge with ambition, integrity and purpose, not just to look after our planet, but to play our part in helping to restore it.
In this section, we highlight our efforts towards reducing emissions and waste by adopting circular economy principles, climate change adaptation, energy management through renewable resources and biodiversity and nature restoration.
