Our 2050 vision
Our vision for the next 25 years, as approved by the Board, is simple:
'No matter what the future holds, our customers can depend on our high-quality and reliable, sustainable and affordable service'
To stay in step with what our customers expect, we have put their priorities at the heart of our vision for the future. We have developed strategies that mean we can achieve our vision and long-term outcomes under a range of potential futures. We have a strong culture of continuous improvement, supported by our processes and systems. We based our robust approach to adaptive planning on Ofwat’s common methodology, lessons learned from our own experience, and insights from other sectors.
We seek to improve this adaptive planning approach, using data and analytics to combine the latest technology with our deep-rooted culture of curiosity to help us adapt to changing circumstances. This combination of data and culture means we can test our long-term models and challenge ourselves to ensure we are meeting the needs and expectations of our customers and stakeholders. We will integrate these innovative adaptive planning tools into our business-as-usual delivery tools.
In setting out our vision for the next 25 years, we have thought about what we need to have in place to meet our customers’ expectations and the environmental challenges we may face.

Long-term outcomes and targets
The below outlines the long-term outcomes, key actions and targets that provide the best value steps towards achieving our 2050 vision.
We have developed these outcomes and targets by considering a variety of inputs, including:
There is a direct link between our Long-term vision and targets, and the double materiality assessment we undertook in 2024/25. This shows that our vision and long-term activities are aligned to the issues of most importance to our stakeholders. In addition, on a broader level, there is alignment with the UN SDGs, demonstrating how our purpose and strategic objectives are closely linked with issues of global importance.
