Our Apprentice Laboratory Scientist Programme offers the perfect blend of personal and professional development, exposing you to the core of our business. Entering an Apprenticeship scheme with us involves working towards the role of a fully-fledged professional, earning a salary, whilst also being able to maintain a sense of academic achievement.

At Severn Trent we provide the perfect mix between hands-on experience and a formal qualification, enabling our apprentices to make a real lasting difference to our customers and communities, not just for now, but far into the future.  

You’ll be supported every step of the way, by your line manager and mentor. Working alongside our laboratory scientist team, you’ll be a key player in carrying out water quality testing, to prescribed microbiology methods taking responsibility for the quality of the work you undertake.

The role will allow you to analyse, interpret and evaluate relevant scientific information. You will gain knowledge of Water Quality testing procedures and standards. You will add value to Severn Trent by responding to Water Quality incidents or issues, identifying, and reporting of key results on the Quality of water to drive the correct response to meet Water Quality Regulations and protect public health.

Entry Criteria

For this Apprenticeship Programme (Level 6) we require all candidates to have at least 104 UCAS points at A-level (grades BCC), with one being biology or an equivalent scientific discipline, or a BTEC Extended diploma in a scientific discipline.

You will also need GCSE Mathematics and English Language (Grades A*-C / 9-4) or equivalent, if not you must complete Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths alongside the apprenticeship.

Age requirement: Due to the nature of this role individuals must be 18+ when starting this apprenticeship
