Career and experience
In her executive career, Sharmila spent 15 years at the BBC, latterly as Chief Operating Officer for BBC Future Media and Technology, and was most recently Chief Executive at Wilton Park.
Previous Non-Executive roles include Deputy Chair of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority and Chairman of the Human Tissue Authority, and Sharmila also has served on the board of the Pension Protection Fund.
Sharmila was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2014 for services to medical research.
