Severn Trent has been recognised as a global leader on gender equality, in a report published today. 

For the second year running, the water and waste company has been named in the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI) – a report that recognises a company’s commitment to solving gender inequality through policy development, representation and transparency.

Today’s report revealed Severn Trent achieved an overall score of 71%, beating its previous score of 53% last year. 

The index measures gender equality across five pillars: female leadership and talent pipeline, equal pay and gender pay parity, inclusive culture, sexual harassment policies and pro-women brand.

The report showed Severn Trent performed strongly on gender pay (73%) and creating an inclusive culture (81%).

Liv Garfield, Severn Trent Chief Executive, said: “This global recognition is another proud moment for Severn Trent and shows we’re clearly heading in the right direction when it comes to addressing gender inequality. 

“For the second year running, it’s great to see we’ve been named alongside other companies from around the world, who share our ambition to create a fairer and more equal society.”    

This year, Bloomberg expanded the eligibility for inclusion in the index to more than 11,700 global companies.

Last month, Severn Trent revealed it had reduced the pay gap between men and women for the fourth consecutive year, after publishing its annual gender pay gap report.
