A guide on how to set up users and roles in the SAP Ariba plaform.
Understanding roles for users
Administrator
During registration the administrator is automatically linked to the username and login entered. They are responsible for account set-up /configuration and management.
The administrator is the primary point of contact for users with questions or problems and creates roles for the account.
User
The user can have different roles, which correspond to the user’s actual job responsibilities. They are responsible for updating user information.

How to create users and roles
Step 1
Select the users tab under the company settings options.
The users page will load.
Step 2
Choose the create role button in the manage roles section and type in the name and a description for the role.
Step 3
Add permissions to the role that correspond to the user’s job responsibilities by checking the proper boxes and click save to create the role.
Please note: for proposal and contract access roles, buyers must approve the request.
Step 4
To create a user, select the create user button and add all relevant information about the user including their name and contact information.
Step 5
Next select a role in the role assignment section and select done.
You can add up to 250 users to your Ariba Network account
Enhanced user functionality
How to use the enhanced user functionality
Step 1
Click on your name in the top right corner, to access the user account navigation where you can:
- Quickly access your personal user account information and settings
- Link multiple user accounts
- Switch to your test account
Please note if you change your username or password, remember to use it at your next login.
Step 2
To view your user settings, click on my account
Step 3
Update all required fields marked by an asterisk or click complete
If you set up multiple accounts and they are linked, the user account navigator will display the multiple accounts.
Step 4
Hide personal information by checking the box in the contact information perferences section.

How to modify roles
Step 1
Click on the company settings
Step 2
Click on users and click on edit for the selected user
Step 3
Click on the reset password button to reset the password of the user
Other options
- Delete user
- Add to contact list
- Remove from contact list
- Make administrator
