Working within the billing department most of your time will be spent taking calls from our customers, absorbing what they tell you and then providing the right information. They could be worried about water usage, moving to a new address or perhaps they need their bill in a different format. Don’t worry if this is something that you’ve not done before as we will provide you with 4 weeks of training which will ensure you’re well prepared to take calls from our customers about anything and everything. It’s a fun, fast-moving environment where we recognise a job well done and, as our people will tell you, it feels good to represent a company that provides such a vitally important service. Unlike some contact centre jobs, there’s no pressure to sell. All you need to do is to provide a positive and accurate service – one that represents Severn Trent Water at its very best.

Let’s talk about what skills you’ll need to be able to do the job.

We’re looking for people who are good listeners, pay strong attention to detail and have good computer literacy skills. As it is a fast paced environment, the ability to resolve one query and move quickly onto the next is important.This role is on a set 20 week rota and therefore you need to be prepared to work shifts between the hours of 8.00am and 9.00pm Monday to Friday and 8.30am to 5.30pm on a scheduled Saturday and bank holidays.

As Customer Service Advisor your key competencies will include:

•Passionate about, and motivated to, delivering a world class customer experience•A positive and empathetic approach to resolving customer queries•Demonstrate self-control and react positively when working in difficult situations and under pressure•Demonstrate attention to detail, able to spot inaccurate information and inconsistencies•Identifies issues, generates workable solutions, and makes rational judgements•Ability to listen effectively and gathers all relevant information by questioning, probing, empathising•The ability to work well in a team, sharing knowledge, being supportive and team spirited
