Adobe PDF

Adobe PDF is a small, secure file that enables documents to be downloaded onto your PC and retain their original hard copy format.

Downloading Free Adobe Acrobat Reader

  • You will need a free Adobe Acrobat Reader which you can download from here. (You may want to print these instructions for reference before clicking on this link.)
  • On the Adobe website, make sure you choose the right platform in the drop-down box before you download - it should correspond to your operating system (e.g. Windows 95).
  • Make a note of where you have downloaded the installation file, then after the download has completed, locate it on your computer and double-click on it. The installation program will do the rest.
  • You are now able to read Adobe PDFs!

Troubleshooting

I've clicked on the link but my browser's just gone blank?

Browsers have different ways of downloading PDFs. Most will show a progress meter having asked you where you would like the file to download to on your machine. However, some browsers (such as Explorer 5 with Acrobat 4) load in the PDF page-by-page and don't show a progress meter. In fact it is downloading - the first page should appear after a few minutes.

I've downloaded the file but nothing has appeared?

You may need to go to where the file was downloaded on your local drive (probably your c:/windows/temp directory somewhere) and click on it from there. If it still doesn't work, your Reader is not working properly and should be reinstalled.
