This report provides an overview of Severn Trent's corporate responsibility performance following a time of significant change for the group. The demerger of Biffa has led to a refocused water business and hence corporate responsibility programme and the structure of this report reflects that change. In previous years Severn Trent Water has produced its own Corporate Responsibility Report alongside the Group report, however this year the decision has been made to produce a single report which focuses on our Group strategy but then reports the progress of our two businesses; Severn Trent Water (STW) and Water Technology and Services (WTS). This allows us to report in a much more transparent way as the progress, culture and impacts linked to corporate responsibility are very different within the two businesses.

In each of the two business sections we have reviewed our 2006/07 progress and talked about some of the key corporate responsibility challenges facing each business for the coming year along with performance data.
